Highly Sensitive People (HSP), often feel fatigued or exhausted after an acupuncture treatment. If this happens to you, then you should try Japanese Toyohari.

To treat HSP effectively and avoid fatigue, dose is very important. Generally, you will require a lower dose of treatment. Non-insertive tools are often better for HSP as standard acupuncture needles may deliver too strong a dose.

The main factors that an acupuncturist needs to consider with an HSP is:

  1. the speed that the Ki moves
  2. the level of fatigue you are experiencing
  3. chronic diseases you may be suffering from

(4)  whether you sweat easily in respond to treatment

(5)  how you feel the day after treatment.

Ki

Ki (qi) moves quickly in HSP. The standard Chinese style of acupuncture where needles are inserted and left for twenty minutes can result in fatigue and sometimes in an ineffective treatment; you could even feel worse than you did before treatment.

The needling needs to match your Ki. So if your Ki moves quickly, you will respond to treatment more quickly. Therefore, acupuncture needles shouldn’t be retained for very long.

Fatigue and chronic disease

If you suffer from fatigue or chronic disease, you may need a lower dose of treatment. If the body is very stagnant or stuck and your circulation isn’t working as well as it should, we don’t want to move your ki too much or too strongly. Moving the Ki can eliminate toxins and your body may struggle to eliminate them. A gentle approach is always important when treating HSP.

Sweat

If you sweat during a treatment (and the sweat isn’t caused by the room temperature or a virus or other factors) this means that you have received more treatment than your body needs at the time. If you sweat during a treatment, your acupuncturist should strop the treatment immediately  to preserve your Ki.

After treatment

Do you feel more tired the day after a standard acupuncture treatment? This tiredness probably indicates that you are highly sensitive and you need a lower dose treatment.

So if you feel you are highly sensitive, please seek out Toyohari acupuncture treatment. If you are in Melbourne, Australia, you can book in with me here.
