Today we practiced the techniques of Nasso and Mun

Today we practiced the techniques of Nasso and Muno, as well as the basic needing techniques for tonification (hoho), sedation (shaho) and stagnation (waho). Toyohari needling techniques are highly refined and precise. These three wonderful teachers - Nakamura Sensei, Taniuchi Sensei and Nakada Sensei (de photo, from left to right) provided instructions to enhance and elevate our needling techniques. They did this with such kindness and generosity (as do all of our teachers). Another fabulous day of training with the Japanese teachers. Kondo Sensei and Akizawa Sensei are featured here. We focused on branch treatments today. The focus of Meridian Therapy is not to resolve a patient's symptoms. It's goal is to restore the natural flow of blood and qi, thereby restoring the body-mind's natural healing power. Disease is a reflection of stagnation or imbalance in the body-mind. Symptoms can guide us to the underlying imbalance or stagnation but to focus solely on resolving symptoms doesn't provide transformation in the health of our patients. This topic was the focus of the keynote lecture by Imauji Sensei at the Toyohari Summer School today. I feel so privileged to be taught by incredible teachers and practitioners and to study with like minded people from across three continents.
