I’ve been travelling to Japan for Toyohari training since 2015. The training offered by the Tokyo-based Toyohari Medical Association is an amazing experience and I always learn so much. The teachers are amazing, always sharing their knowledge, wisdom and expertise so kindly and generously.
The videos below were taken during the 2017 Tokyo Summer School. You can hear me verbalising each step of the needling process. This is the process we follow every single time we needle.
The Toyohari needling techniques are incredibly precise and refined. We regularly practice under the guidance of our teachers, and with our peers, to continually improve our techniques and outcomes for our patients. This is very rare and special practice. To my knowledge, there is no other acupuncture system in the world which focuses on needling to this extent.
In the videos, I’m needling the points Liver 8 and Spleen 9 with hoho (tonifying) technique, under the guidance of Murakami Sensei. There are around 400 people training in the one large room, hence the background noise.
