Summer is a wonderful time to relax, explore, and soak up the sunshine ☀️

With a little care and attention, you can feel your best and enjoy a healthy summer glow all season 😍

Amidst the fun, give yourself time to slow down. Rest can support your immune system, mood, and overall vitality.

Summer often brings a full social calendar, but you don’t have to say yes to everything. Try to choose the gatherings, events, and people who genuinely make you feel good. Protecting your time and energy helps you enjoy the season without feeling overwhelmed.

Enjoy seasonal treats, but balance them with vibrant summer fruits, vegetables, and whole foods to maintain vital energy. Use bright coloured seasonal vegetables, cooking them lightly and quickly by steaming or sautéing.

The amount of sun exposure that is safe depends on your skin tone, and other skin cancer risk factors. Safe, sensible sun exposure may support your Vitamin D levels (important for many aspects of our health), circadian rhythm and mental health. Experts state that as little as a few minutes each day is enough to keep healthy.

Stay active with gentle, enjoyable activities. Swimming, morning walks, bike rides, or beach games are great options that don’t feel like “exercise.”

Drink plenty of room temperature water throughout the day, especially when you’re outdoors. Keep a reusable bottle with you to make it easy. Alcohol and caffeine are natural diuretics, so keep these and sugary drinks to a minimum.

In Traditional East Asian Medicine, cold and icy food and drinks are thought to reduce sweating and stop our natural cooling process from occurring and can also affect digestion. You can cool down by drinking a hot cup of tea (e.g. Chai tea), or taking a hot shower to induce sweating.

Many people choose acupuncture as part of their self-care routine to help them feel balanced, relaxed, and centred. Regular sessions may support stress management, encourage a sense of calm, and contribute to an overall sense of wellbeing.
